18 March 2020: Due to COVID-19 some cystic fibrosis (CF) clinical trials may be suspended with new trials postponed. Please see the relevant advice on the COVID-19 Q&A page.
Welcome to our cystic fibrosis (CF) Clinical Trials Hub, where you will find a wealth of information on CF clinical trials as well as being able to search for trials you might like to take part in by using theTrials Tracker.
With more advances in CF treatment than ever before, and a host of new treatments in the pipeline, this is an exciting time for the CF community. The Clinical Trials Accelerator Platform aims to support the CF community to gain access to the newest CF treatments being developed by taking part in clinical trials. Through our network of participating CF centres, national team of CF Trial Coordinators and online information, we provide a platform to help children and adults with CF take part in trials across the UK.
Find out how you can get involved in clinical trials. This might mean exploring our Trials Tracker, and finding a trial to take part in that works for you. You might want to read up on trials in our useful clinical trials booklet and get answers to some of the questions you have. Or you might choose to lend your time in another way, by taking part in community involvement and becoming a CF Trial Ambassador, ensuring the experiences of people with CF and their families play a part in every trial. You’ll find this and more on our page on getting involved.
Through the Trials Accelerator we collaborate with Sponsors who have a CF medication pipeline, helping to support them with the design, planning and delivery of CF clinical trials. Whether this is through the national team of Trials Accelerator-funded Coordinators, our network of Trial Accelerator Centres or our PPI platform, there are many ways the Trials Accelerator supports Sponsors with the design and delivery of CF trials. Find out more on our page for Sponsors.
Our Trials Tracker lists CF clinical trials happening across the UK. Find out what is happening where and how people can participate in trials even if they are not running at their regular CF centre.
Impact of the Trials Accelerator
The impact of the Trials Accelerator can clearly be seen by looking at how many people with cystic fibrosis have taken part in one of the CF trials running at Trials Accelerator centres. Since launching the Trials Accelerator in September 2017:
674 people with cystic fibrosis have been screened to make sure they are suitable for a clinical trial within the Trials Accelerator network.
548 children and adults with cystic fibrosis have taken part, or are currently taking part in a clinical trial within the Trials Accelerator network.
