Frequently asked questions

Frequently asked questions for leaving a gift in your will.

What information about the Cystic Fibrosis Trust do I need to include a gift?

If you decide to include a gift to the Cystic Fibrosis Trust, the essential information to include is the name and address of the charity and the charity registration number. The information you need is:

Cystic Fibrosis Trust
One Aldgate

Registered as a charity in England and Wales (1079049) and Scotland (SC040196).

What are the different types of Legacy?

Your solicitor will advise you upon this, but there is more than one way to leave a gift in your will, depending on your personal circumstances and your wishes. You may wish to include a percentage of your Estate or the whole (residuary gift) or you may wish to leave a fixed sum (pecuniary gift). Remember that the value of a pecuniary gift is likely to decrease over time due to the effects of inflation, but to avoid this you can arrange to have your gift index-linked to the retail price index. Alternatively, you may wish to include a particular item which you own (specific gift).

Do I have enough to leave a legacy to the Trust?

You don't have to be wealthy, any gift you include for the Trust would be gratefully received and help support our future work after you have made adequate provision for your family and friends, who should come first.

Is it necessary to have a will?

Making a will allows you to choose who you would like to benefit from your Estate. It also provides an opportunity for you to state other wishes such as guardianship of any children and funeral arrangements.

What about homemade wills?

We would always advise you to seek professional legal advice. We will happily provide you with a list of solicitors in your area regulated by the Solicitors Regulation Authority.

Can I save on my Inheritance Tax liability by including a gift to the Trust?

Your solicitor will be able to advise you on whether your Estate may be liable to Inheritance Tax and the taxable benefits of leaving a gift to charity. If you have any questions about including a gift in your will to the Cystic Fibrosis Trust, please contact Michael Clark on 0203 795 2132.
